Drafted by Michael Ruiz-del-Vizo

This Merchant Cart was built and drafted for New York Stage and Film's 2019 mainstage production Lighting (or TheUnbuttoning).

The cart had to be made so that it could maneuver a tight corner. As Properties Supervisor, I led a crew of interns in constructing and painting the cart and all other props, alongside the designer.

MEN

ON BOATs

by Jaclyn Backhaus

Men On Boats is based on John Wesley Powell's 1869 expedition of the Grand Canyon. Using historical research, I was able to buy, fabricate, and distress props to fit within the time period. The production also called for a 'Foley props'.

Specialty Prop Design - Canoe

Director: Craig Anton and Joan McMurtney

Set Designer: Zeke Waters

Designed and built by Michael Ruiz-del-Vizo

The task was to design, draft, and build a canoe that would be used as set dressing.

The difficulty was that the canoe needed to be 16 feet long, but it needed to be designed in a way that would allow us to use standard building material.

Peter and the Starcatcher

Director: Michael Weinstein

Set Designer: Enna Chow

Properties Master: Michael Ruiz-del-Vizo

by Rick Elice, based on the book by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson

Peter and the Starcatcher forced me to use my imagination so that I could fabricate props to be used in multiple ways throughout the show. I was able to lead crews, budget, purchase, and fabricate props.
